MISSED LESSON POLICY
Your music tuition fees secure an exclusive, regular lesson time in your teacher’s schedule. Rescheduling a lesson missed by the student can be challenging, often requiring your teacher to take their own personal time and book additional studio time to accommodate a make-up lesson.
Please CONTACT YOUR TEACHER directly, rather than BHM, to give notice of any absence or lateness. Your teacher will ensure that you have their current contact information.
LESSONS MISSED BY THE STUDENT
With LESS THAN 24 HRS NOTICE are charged to the student, and will not be made up.
With MORE THAN 24 HRS NOTICE, due to illness or family emergency, are charged to the student.
Note: student workload, group events, family schedule changes, vacations, etc., do not qualify as emergencies. In lieu, the student will be offered an ONLINE LESSON at their scheduled date and time. If an online lesson is not possible, the teacher will make a reasonable effort (but does not guarantee) to reschedule the lesson within the current term, at a time convenient to both the teacher and student.
With NO NOTICE, are charged to the student, and will not be made up.
A make-up lesson cancelled by the student will not be rescheduled.
Inperson and Online make-up lessons are offered at the teacher’s discretion. There is a limit of 1 make-up lesson per term.
Lesson Withdrawal: Students are expected to complete their term. If the student withdraws from lessons due to unavoidable circumstances before the term is completed, 30 days written notice must be given. Following the 30 days, Buchanans, at its discretion, may refund any remaining lessons
LESSONS MISSED BY THE TEACHER will be made up within the current term.
STORM CLOSURE POLICY
In extreme weather conditions we do not want our students or teachers taking risks in order to attend lessons.
BUCHANANS MAKES ITS OWN DECISION TO CLOSE FOR EXTREME WEATHER BASED ON LOCAL CONDITIONS AT LESSON TIME. NOTE THAT PUBLIC SCHOOL CLOSURES DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY MEAN YOUR LESSONS AT BUCHANANS ARE CANCELLED.
Most lessons occur in the afternoon hours when driving conditions have improved, making safe travel possible for the majority of Buchanans’ students and teachers.
ONLINE LESSONS are available should travel be hazardous for either the student or teacher. In this situation, we ask that students give at least ONE HOUR’S notice that you’d like an online lesson by getting in touch directly with your teacher.
Power outages or other storm-related complications that make online lessons impossible are beyond the school’s control, and in this event, no make-up lessons will be offered.
NOTICE OF BUCHANANS STORM CLOSURES will be posted on our Voicemail (902) 531-3310, on Facebook and Instagram, and, if possible, directly by group email or phone message.
